ISLAMABAD: World Minorities Alliance Convener and Awami Maseeha Party (AMP)Organiser Salik rejected the electoral ref
orms and said that the electoral reforms m
ade by government are negating the
democracy in Pakistan.
In a statement, he said that the government did not change the method of minorities’ election. He said that the verdict of the Supreme Court of Pakistan has come, more than one and half year ago on the case regard
ing minorities election system and the apex court advised parliament in its decision of 5th August, 2015 to stop consider
ing minorities as second class citizens and change their method of election, but no improvement in this regard is m
ade by parliament yet.
He demanded to bring necessary reforms in the electoral syste
m before the elections so that minorities can choose their representatives because it’s the violation of the article 226 of the constitution as well.
